Stretching across the misty mountains of southwestern Rwanda, Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the oldest and most biodiverse rainforests on the African continent. Ancient, vast, and teeming with life — this is a place where nature has been left gloriously undisturbed for millions of years.
Walk among towering hardwood trees draped in moss and orchids. Listen as the forest erupts with the calls of over 300 bird species — many found nowhere else on earth. Then look up: a troop of chimpanzees swings overhead, crashing through the canopy in a blur of black fur and noise. Nyungwe is raw, alive, and electric.
For the truly fearless, the iconic Canopy Walkway suspends you 50 meters above the forest floor — swaying gently above the treetops as the ancient world stretches out beneath your feet in every direction. It is, simply put, one of the most breathtaking views in all of Africa.
Whether you're tracking chimpanzees at dawn, hiking past waterfalls, or spotting rare colobus monkeys leaping between branches, Nyungwe rewards the curious and the adventurous in equal measure. This is Rwanda's green heart — wild, wonderful, and waiting.
