Description

Spice-scented breezes. Turquoise waters.
A world apart — and a world unto itself.

Floating in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean just off the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar is one of those rare destinations that exceeds every expectation. Mysterious, beautiful, intoxicating — it is a place where ancient Swahili culture meets powder-white beaches, where coral reefs shimmer beneath impossibly blue water, and where the scent of cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom drifts through narrow stone alleyways at dusk.

This is not just a beach holiday. Zanzibar is a full sensory experience — a place with layers of history, culture, flavour, and adventure waiting to be peeled back one extraordinary day at a time. Whether you come to relax, explore, dive, feast, or simply disappear from the world for a while, Zanzibar will deliver it all with effortless, spice-island magic.

The perfect ending to an East Africa safari — or a destination entirely worthy of a trip on its own — Zanzibar is where Africa meets the ocean, and where every sunset feels like it was painted just for you.

The Zanzibar experience — what awaits you

Stone Town — the living museum

Wander the UNESCO-listed labyrinth of carved wooden doors, bustling spice markets, ancient mosques, and candlelit rooftop restaurants. Stone Town is Zanzibar's beating heart — chaotic, charming, and completely captivating.

White sand beaches

From the lively shores of Nungwi and Kendwa in the north to the serene, secluded coves of Paje and Jambiani on the east coast — Zanzibar's beaches are among the most beautiful in the entire world. Soft, white, and fringed with swaying palms.

Spice farm tours

Zanzibar earned its nickname — the Spice Island — for good reason. Tour a working spice farm and discover cloves, vanilla, black pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon growing in lush tropical gardens. Taste, smell, and touch the spices that once made Zanzibar the most important trading port in the Indian Ocean.

Diving & snorkelling

Beneath Zanzibar's shimmering surface lies an underwater world of extraordinary colour and diversity. Vibrant coral gardens, sea turtles, dolphins, whale sharks, and thousands of tropical fish species make the waters around Zanzibar some of the finest diving and snorkelling in the Indian Ocean.

Dolphin tours & island hopping

Swim with wild spinner dolphins off Kizimkazi, or take a traditional dhow to the nearby Prison Island to meet giant Aldabra tortoises over 100 years old. Mnemba Atoll, Chumbe Island, and Bawe Island each offer their own unforgettable slice of paradise.

Swahili cuisine & food culture

Zanzibar's food is as extraordinary as its scenery. Feast on fresh seafood grilled at Forodhani Night Market, sip on freshly blended spice teas, and savour the legendary Zanzibar pizza — a street food experience unlike anything you've tried before. Every meal here is a celebration.

Whether you spend three days or three weeks, Zanzibar will fill every hour with beauty, flavour, and discovery. Pair it with a Tanzania safari for the ultimate East Africa experience — wildlife by day, paradise by night. The island is waiting. All you have to do is arrive.

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous archipelago off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. The main island, Unguja, is served by Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) with direct flights from Dar es Salaam (25 minutes), Nairobi, and several European cities. Arrival in stone town and have a small town tour. Stone Town is the atmospheric, historic heart of Zanzibar City and a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized for its unique blend of Swahili, Arab, Indian, and European influences. Often called Mji Mkongwe (Old Town), it is a labyrinth of narrow alleys, bustling bazaars, and grand coral-stone buildings that tell the story of Zanzibar's centuries as a major trading hub.

Stone town

Zanzibar offers stunning beaches like Nungwi and Kendwa for consistent swimming and nightlife, and Paje for kitesurfing. Key islands include Mnemba (snorkeling) and Prison Island (tortoises). Best times are during low tide for walking sandbars, while the southeast coast, including Bwejuu and Jambiani, offers tranquil, local experiences.
